Something about Canvas
Always right where we are to be...

In 2017, I took a trip down to Wynwood Miami for a special annual event called ART BASEL. I ran into a group of freshly dressed men at a Gallery party. They were denimed out with their own logos and own rips and cuts, I knew right away they were from New York City. I approached them in aww of their photography behind them. They printed photos on steel! Leave it to a New Yorker to create an unusual way to print a picture.
To the right of their photographs hung a collection of the most vivacious pieces of canvas paintings I saw in the 27 years of my existence. I automatically asked the guys "who painted these? I NEED to meet them!" They tip-toed and their eyes scanned just above the crowd looking for the person that spoke to my soul through his art. "He's actually on his way over here as we speak," said Aaron his Manager. We shook hands as Aaron introduced us, little did we know, we'd create some dope content together, but that moment was the beginning of my journey learning all about Nina Simone, meeting Lisa Simone ( her daughter), and traveling to many worlds. I must say, as my inaugural piece into the art world, this gift is a great timeless piece and I would not change the way it fell into my lap. It most definitely belongs in a fine gallery somewhere. I might as well make a gallery now! |

Highlyfavored Art posted this piece of art on their page. I instantly connected with it as if it sang to me. It felt like I was being serenaded by The Notorious B.I.G. himself. I left it alone for a few minutes but somehow, my mind could not stop singing the song "Big Poppa."
To me, capturing a moment or an energy into a still framework is brilliant i had to bid for it. It was mine! Ken (the artist) said "it was only right he ended up in Brooklyn!" Shout out to Ken for the two-day shipping! I received it realizing that i do not have a space for it in my two bedroom NYC apartment. I did some head-scratching and found a place to endow this special piece. Another great added to my collection |
